New clinical study concerning patients with Hand Eczema

Every year, 1 in 10 Danes experiences hand eczema. The skin turns red, swells, itches and some small blisters can appear. For many, it develops into a chronic disease where the skin becomes thickened and scaly with painful cracks.
Hand eczema can occur because one has a congenital tendency to eczema, so the skin is particularly vulnerable. It may be due to past or present atopic eczema (also called infantile eczema). More often, however, hand eczema is caused by skin contact with allergenic substances or substances that directly irritate the skin.
