Sanos Clinic 1 year

2018 – An exciting beginning
2018 was the starting point for building a trustworthy relationship with our participants, as well as guarantee the expectations of our partners. We started our activity with high prospects for success and we are certainly on the right path to do so. In 2018 Sanos has initiated five different scientific studies.
Scientific studies
We initiated our activities at Sanos by conducting a clinical study where menopausal women were offered to take a dietary supplement with an expected positive effect on the discomforts most commonly seen in women of this age group. The project involved 50 women and was completed in December 2018. The preliminary results are promising.
Following this successful study, we have three other ongoing projects:
- Osteoarthritis - In this research project, the known anti-inflammatory drug diclofenac is tested in a new gel form for topical application in patients with osteoarthritis of the knee. The purpose is to assess whether the treatment to a greater extent than standard topical treatment has a pain-reducing effect.
- Asthma - The research project includes people who, because of severe asthma, receive daily treatment with prednisolone in tablet form. Only patients with so-called eosinophil asthma can be included. The purpose is to assess whether a treatment with a drug that affect interleukin-5 can reduce the use of prednisolone.
- Ulcerative colitis. The research project includes patients with mild to moderate ulcerative colitis. The purpose is to assess whether a treatment with a drug that inhibits interleukin-36 has positive effect on the disease.
In addition, a research project for people with chronic hand eczema will be initiated in April 2019.

2019 – Celebrating one year of Activity
During 2019 we will continue to provide the best clinical services to our participants, so that we together can achieve relevant results on our high-quality research and help develop new drugs for the patients. We will continue to adhere to our core values:
- Patient-centric - We take pride in placing our patients first and prioritize to offer the best care and attention.
- Safety - Safety always comes first. Through knowledge, training and competences, we ensure the highest safety for our clinical trial participants, when we deliver the needed results for continuous drug development.
- Quality - The combination of our premium customer service with advanced facilities and equipment
allow us to provide the best, most reliable services and results to both patients and collaborators, with a continuous focus on self-improvement. - Integrity - We always set high ethical standards in everything we do, and we follow strong moral principles in compliance with all regulations and recommendations for clinical trials.
- Professionalism - Our experienced and well-trained medical team offers dedication and the best experiences to our patients, so that reliable and trustworthy relationships can be built.
What the future brings
In the near future, Sanos will be able to expand activities and offer participation in phase I clinical trials. Phase I represent the early clinical development where participants will be able to stay comfortably overnight, while being monitored by our qualified staff. For that purpose, we will establish a new clinical unit (ward) in our building at Herlev Hovedgade 82. Our clinic will of course continue to offer clinical studies in later phases as we currently do. In connection with the establishment of the new clinical unit, we will renovate the exterior of the bulding and beautify the surrounding areas.
To provide better and more advanced treatments to our participants, we have completed the installation of a state-of-the-art MRI scanner, to be utilized for our clinical research projects. The MRI scanner allows us to offer exceptional service to our study participants and enables us to do world-class clinical research. We believe that this is beneficial for the development of new treatment options for patients with diseases such as osteoarthritis and cardiovascular diseases. We look forward to offering participation to the first MRI-study from the Fall of 2019.
For the first year of activity, we have received almost 400 patient visits and we expect to significantly increase this number before the end of the year, once we start new studies focusing on several other disease areas.
